Open Educational Resources
Open educational resources (OERS) are freely accessible, openly licensed text, media, and other digital assets that are useful for teaching, learning, and assessing as well as for research purposes. As of September 2020, the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board launched OERTX, the state’s digital repository of open educational resources for Texas Students and educational institutions. Additional information for Open Educational Resources (OER) by course can be found on the Texas Core to Open website developed by the University Libraries Open Education team.
At Texas State, courses have designations based on the course material cost associated with the course. The following attributes on the course listing in the schedule of classes includes:
- No Cost - The 'No Cost' course designation indicates a course that has zero required course materials costs
- Low Cost - The 'Low Cost' course designation indicates a course with course material costs of $50 or less, as designated by the Affordable Learning Materials Committee. This designation includes library resources.
